Many experiences share the same core elements but differ in context. Photo sharing on Facebook has similar experience elements to sharing physical photos, but the actions involved and the context of the two experiences differ vastly. In creative processes, it’s valuable to analyze related experiences to the one you want to create so you can explore which core experience elements you would like to recreate in your specific context. Silas Hooper invented the “Teasing Apart, Piecing Together”, TAPT, method to do just that. In this video, we’ll show you how you can use TAPT as a structured series of steps and worksheets designed to facilitate the process of transforming experiences into new contexts. Silas Hooper developed the TAPT method in a collaboration between Southampton University and IBM Research.

The TAPT method is essentially about teasing apart and deconstructing the experiential elements of a situation and in so doing be in a position to piece together and reconstruct the experiential elements in a different way so you can create parallel digital experiences.
