Verified Competencies Demonstrated by Ibrahim Özkan

By completing this curriculum to the standards of the IxDF Educational Codex, Ibrahim Özkan has demonstrated mastery of how to:

  • Differentiate smartphone and tablet user experiences based on screen size, session duration, mobility, and user attention.

  • Evaluate mobile interfaces through the three defining qualities of mobile UX: visible, interruptible, and playful.

  • Design for micro-moments (I-want-to-know, I-want-to-go, I-want-to-do, and I-want-to-buy) and Josh Clark's three mobile mindsets of microtasking, local, and bored.

  • Apply the eight goals of mobile UX: ease of use, ease of learning, comprehension, sociability, emotional appeal, respect for user attention, accessibility, and inclusivity.

  • Challenge design decisions with the Assumption Buster framework to reduce bias, exclusion, and unintended harm to users.

  • Select the appropriate type of mobile application (native, hybrid, or web) based on project goals, budget, and user requirements.

  • Account for context of use across environmental, cultural, social, emotional, cognitive, and inclusion factors.

  • Implement the three principles of responsive design (fluid grids, fluid images, and media queries) through a mobile-first approach with strategic breakpoints.

  • Deploy adaptive design to deliver context-aware experiences responsive to device capabilities, bandwidth, and environmental conditions.

  • Choose between responsive and adaptive approaches based on user needs, project constraints, and contextual demands.

  • Balance utility, usability, desirability, and brand experience to produce mobile products users both need and prefer.

  • Execute a five-step human-centered design process for mobile: Assess, Understand, Define, Differentiate, and Sketch and Refine.

  • Move beyond the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) toward a Minimum Desirable Product (MDP) that prioritizes emotional value.

  • Differentiate a mobile UX strategy through user adoption shaped by visual, cognitive, and emotional judgment.

  • Incorporate sociability with purpose across the five categories of social bonding, social navigation, social task support, social translucence, and social identity.

  • Test ideas early through sketches, paper prototypes, and iterative cycles with real users.

  • Manage the continuous mobile UX lifecycle through research, testing, iteration, and refinement after launch.

  • Apply Nielsen's ten usability heuristics specifically to the mobile environment.

  • Evaluate designs with Savio and Braiterman's mobile-specific heuristics, grounded in the overlapping spheres of mobile context.

  • Conduct heuristic evaluations with the USE Scorecard (Usable, Satisfying, Easy) to assess and refine mobile experiences alongside a design team.
