Verified Competencies Demonstrated by Muhammad Hassan

By completing this curriculum to the standards of the IxDF Educational Codex, Muhammad Hassan has demonstrated mastery of how to:

  • Apply the interaction model and five-step goal-mapping walkthrough, including the 90-second time-out rule, to identify exactly where a design fails to give users the evidence they need to act and determine what needs to change.

  • Apply George Miller's Magical Number Seven and the Atkinson-Shiffrin multi-store model to design interfaces that work with human memory rather than against it, to reduce errors and support task completion.

  • Distinguish between sensory, short-term, and long-term memory and use that knowledge to reduce friction in user flows and support users in completing tasks accurately.

  • Account for how cross-sensory dependencies between sight, touch, and proprioception create failure points in single-channel interface designs, and propose design solutions that address them.

  • Design for users affected by illness, disability, age, stress, and fatigue, not as exceptions but as an expected part of the user population, producing interfaces that hold up across the full spectrum of human ability.

  • Evaluate color, contrast, and motion against the known limits of human visual perception, including the one-second peripheral motion threshold, to make specific, substantiated decisions about animation and notification design.

  • Use the ecological sound and earcon framework to design auditory feedback to carry meaningful information through pitch, timbre, and harmonic complexity, and evaluate when visual or auditory channels are appropriate for a given user context.

  • Identify where an interface demands recall from users when recognition would serve them better, and produce annotated learnability evidence to demonstrate where design supports new users and where it fails them.

  • Conduct an accessibility audit against WCAG perceivable guidelines to identify where a design excludes users across vision, hearing, and cognitive ability, and produce a documented checklist of what works and what fails.

  • Recognize how confabulation and memory reconstruction affect the reliability of user research data, and account for those risks when interpreting findings and making design decisions.
