James Kwaku Kwarteng
My research journey began in 2020 at Eastern New Mexico University, when I was tasked with designing a mobile application on my own in our Media Lab during the pandemic. Working alone during this time forced me to think deeply about how interface cues shape user engagement, trust, and expectations. Those questions have guided my work ever since and sparked my interest in how people interpret AI-driven and design systems, informing my research on conversational AI, algorithmic personalization, and awareness.
