Hello IDF/NYC,

Has it been 6 months already? There is A LOT that has happened this year and one thing is certain: we aren’t the same people we were in January.

We hope those in our inaugural cohort of the IDF/NYC Mentorship program can at least attribute a small piece of positive change to the creation of a new friendship brought through shared mentorship.

We’re excited to be kicking off our second Mentorship cohort. To start things off, we want to offer a public training webinar on How to be a Mentor or Mentee. These trainings are required to be a part of the mentorship program because we deeply value everyone being on the same page. For our first cohort, these trainings were only available to folks who filled out the Mentorship Opt-in Form. This time, we want to offer the training to everyone so that you know what to expect of the program before needing to opt in!

REMINDER: HOW IDF/NYC MENTORSHIP WORKS:

  • The program is voluntary & is 100% free
  • Mentorship cohorts run for 6 months (e.g. Jun-Dec)
  • Mentors are paired with mentees based on like-interests, based on opt-in form submissions
  • Mentors work with mentees on career coaching, job searching, portfolio building, etc. They meet at their own discretion.
  • Cohort 2 Timeline:
    • Mentorship opt-in submissions will ‘close’ 6/20
    • Two 'closed' training webinars will be hosted on 6/24 & 6/26 for members who've submitted the opt-in form
    • IDF/NYC leadership will review submissions last week of June and pair mentors with mentees
    • We will reach out to make official email introductions for those who made it into Cohort 2 end of first week of July
    • We will reach out to notify everyone who did not make it into Cohort 2

What is an IxDF Local Group and why should I join one?

An IxDF Local Group is a meeting point for people with a passion for design in your city.

You don't need to be a designer, just passionate about great design and how it can improve your work and career.

Meetups are the heartbeat of IxDF Local Groups, whether we meet at a café, a creative space or a local company. There's nothing quite like the magic of meeting face-to-face to share ideas and inspiration.

We also host regular IxDF Design Dinners, where we enjoy great food and help each other learn and grow. Even a simple coffee meetup in a café can ignite collaborations and friendships that last a lifetime.

You'll also have a private and exclusive online forum where you can openly get help and career advice.

Simply put, we learn together and smile together.
