    Hey Mahmoud and Lee,

I am in Southeast too and would be up for a coffee meetup. If you don't mind an extra.

Of course it would be great to meet 'for real'. Yet, for practical reasons, I would prefer a virtula meeting on this occasion, if that works for everyone else.

I don't know what they require from a UX writer to be honest but I think that the requirements for a portfolio should be very similar. Showing your work is essential, the reason you are doing it and how you got there (the who, what, why and how) and to show that is basically the process. Research, sketching, paper prototyping, testing, prototyping (low and high fidelity) but again this is for UX Designer not sure about UX writer.

It would be great to get together, not sure how tight these restrictions are going to get, I'm in Southeast London

I think you may be right! I'm in South East too! Between Crystal Palace and Penge. Would be great to meet, and we could see if up to four others want to come too, what do you think?

I am sorry that I missed this! Hope we can 'get together' again soon.

My story is I am transitioning from other types of writing, journalism, copywriting, advocacy/community organising, and have had a couple of first interviews, but whilst my knowledge of user experience is growing, I am getting the impression that I need to build up a portfolio to get anywhere. Cheers.

    Hello Lee,

Yes, the portfolio is very important. It helps you to put the information that you want to show and the ability to show others what you are capable of doing.

For sure! I have a portfolio, but it's more copywriting and content writing, with just some interface writing. I am getting the impression that for some UX jobs, including UX writer jobs, you need to show the whole process, including the research and prototyping, right? I would love to carry on this conversation in a Zoom or, even better, over a coffee! Maybe we could have smaller get-togethers for now...? Where are you based, Mahmoud?

I just want to be clear that this is only to chat and discuss how Covid has affected others and try and get help from each other. I have been struggling to find a job and I want to share and hear what others have experienced as well and hopefully make virtual friends.

I will add the zoom link tomorrow if people are still interested, shall we say start at 10am and end whenever we are done?
