Any chance of an actual physical meetup somewhere in Dublin? Not online?

Hi Juliana, thanks for opening the thread! It would be great if you could give us a bit more information on how we can join in the day. Whats the link to join? Is it really taking place at midnight? That would be quite tricky on a midweek event. Thank you

Hi All, I do not know if Juliana is going host this meeting or not. I can send a call to meeting URL for 9pm Thursday 26th March.

I'm not sure what is the best telecom application to use. In work (up to recently) I always used Skype for work meetings. Since last week everyone is working from home and the performance of Skype is terrible. All remote workers in my company have switched to Microsoft Teams. The performance of Teams is much better than Skype.

For non work related calls I’ve recently used Zoom ( I was a participant not the host). I think the Zoom free basic package only allows meeting duration up to 40 minutes. I think if I was the host this meeting using Zoom I have to get the Zoom Pro. This costs Eur 14 per month.

Which is the best telco application. Please get back to me with suggestions.

Usually when I create online meeting I input the invitees email addresses when creating the call to meeting. But I assume if the Meeting URL is included in this IDF meetup discussion board, people will be able to join by clicking the URL. It would be alot handier than having to get all the attendee email addresses. Can anyone verify the above assumption is correct?

    Regards/Brian

p.s. Juliana if you still intend to host meeting, please respond

Yep with Covid 19, there is less opportunity to meet other Designers I'd love to meet up online and discuss design especially what's going on design wise in Dublin and Ireland at the moment as you can lose touch a little being out of contact!

Questions? We've Got Answers

What is an IxDF Local Group and why should I join one?

An IxDF Local Group is a meeting point for people with a passion for design in your city.

You don't need to be a designer, just passionate about great design and how it can improve your work and career.

Meetups are the heartbeat of IxDF Local Groups, whether we meet at a café, a creative space or a local company. There's nothing quite like the magic of meeting face-to-face to share ideas and inspiration.

We also host regular IxDF Design Dinners, where we enjoy great food and help each other learn and grow. Even a simple coffee meetup in a café can ignite collaborations and friendships that last a lifetime.

You'll also have a private and exclusive online forum where you can openly get help and career advice.

Simply put, we learn together and smile together.

You'll expand your career network, discover new skills, explore job opportunities, meet potential clients, or even find your next dedicated team member when you join an xDF Local Group.

Remember: Your network is your net worth.

What goes on in an IxDF Local Group?

Your IxDF Local Group is led by an IxDF Local Leader and serves as a vibrant hub where you can network, learn and grow.

Here's what you can expect:

  • A community of professionals from all walks of life, who share a passion for great design and how it can benefit their career, their company, and society in general.

  • We have ongoing conversations about current design topics and local opportunities, which can help you stay ahead of industry developments and identify career opportunities.

  • And lastly, peer-led sessions focused on specific design challenges that will help you build expertise and sharpen your problem-solving skills.

In other words, we learn together and smile together. We lift each other up.

I'm not even a designer. Should I still join an IxDF Local Group?

Yes, absolutely!
