Hey Elliott! Very pleased to make your acquaintance – please call me Monty.

This is a great idea. As 12th Jan is a Friday, how about afternoon tea/coffee with the option to go for a cheeky half to close the week?

Did you have a location in mind? Just a suggestion in the pot: WsM has a large population plus several worthy venues.

Hi Monty, great to hear from you, and a fellow Westonian. Thank you for your message. Absolutely great idea from you, Sir.

I updated a possible time to the evening but yes realising it’s a Friday I doubt many will want to attempt travelling here pre weekend 🤣

Without doubt we should meet that afternoon regardless. I will connect with you and as you say we have a lot of choice for venues.

Hi fellow IxDF members, I hope you are all well.

I am new to this foundation, and investigating whether a meetup for North Somerset area designers would be of interest.

Even if it’s just a few of us for now, we could give it a try eh?

    Hi Elliott, long time!

Apologies for what probably resembles a ghosting 😅 Studies/interacting with IxDF took a back seat these past months, but the recent promo for a Bristol meetup reminded me of the effort you made earlier this year.

I won’t be able to join tomorrow, but we could try to organise another Weston/N Somerset meetup if you’re into it?

    Cheers,
    Monty

Hoping you’ve all had a good weekend.

Well, Friday’s meetup was just me, myself and I.

Whilst there were members marked to attend, no attendees present.

How do you all feel about a meetup around North Somerset? Is there interest?

Hey Elliott – so sorry! I have to admit that this fell completely off my radar, a consequence of falling off the study horse. I think I might have been angling towards afternoon after working hours so wouldn’t have been able to join on this occasion.

I hope some folks came and met you! Do let us know here if you’re planning another in the future. All the best.

A further update on Monday 8th January 2024. Hoping you are all well and had pleasant weekends.

It’s rather quiet on here regarding the meetup, and only feedback from Monty below. I figure it’s best I attend a venue at a time on the date specified and if any of you can make it, wonderful. If not, I will be there, just in case.

This meetup is purely designed to be informal. We could create something more in-depth if the interest is there ( talks / workshops ). At present, it’s all pretty quiet, so it may not move beyond me waiting at the venue 🤭.

The location I deem best for everyone is Sass Bar and Cafe in South Parade. See Google Maps location…

Opposite the venue is Sovereign Shopping Centre with parking, and a short walk across the Italian Square to the venue on the corner.

An image of the venue from the direction of the shopping centre is below, and a view looking back at the shopping centre.

Monty gave a preference of the afternoon which whilst I understand could be tricky for some, it would be worse with traffic on a Friday evening. There have been no suggestions for a better day or time 😢.

I will find a table in there ( you have my profile photo above ), and will be sat with my mac which is covered in stickers ( why not ). Hope to meet up with fellow designers this coming Friday. Here is my LinkedIn Profile if you wish to connect on there ahead of the meetup/ask further questions.

Wishing you all a good week. Elliott

Hi fellow IxDF members. Hoping you all enjoyed pleasant Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The proposed meetup here in North Somerset is scheduled for a week tomorrow, but I have yet to set a venue and time. Monty has expressed a preference for the afternoon? Maybe a different day of the week is preferable?

If the interest is there ( I can see 5 members that are interested ) then please feedback on preferences.

Worst case, I will nominate a venue and time for next Friday and be there for an informal meetup and hope for the best 🤗

Wishing you all a successful 2024 and beyond.

    Elliott

What would be the best time of day for you?
I can see there is already an IxDF Bristol meetup, so, the aim of this was to cover North Somerset as I don’t see any activity around my area.
But, if there is no interest in this area, I will attend Bristol events 🤗
