Hello! I’m Kathy, a new co-leader of IxDF Shanghai.
I’ve invited a friend from university for a catch-up about the past six months — what we’ve been learning, what’s changed, and what we’re still figuring out. We’d love to open up the conversation to anyone who feels like joining us.
I’ll share a little about my recent experience with IxDF and the personal journey that brought me here. I’m equally curious about yours: what brought you to this community, and what’s been on your mind lately?
A little about me
My studies have taken me from public health management to digital strategy and information systems. I grew up in China’s exam-focused education system and followed the gaokao route, then completed my first master’s in China and my second in the UK. Along the way, I’ve experienced Chinese, Australian and British approaches to education.
Looking back, a thread running through these experiences is self-exploration: gradually moving from following the expectations of teachers, parents and society towards asking, “What kind of life do I actually want to live?”
I’m an INFJ, have ADHD and live with multiple food intolerances. I enjoy photography, reading and journalling, and my curiosity often wanders into philosophy, psychology and sometimes the mystical, too.
Some starting points for our conversation
What have the past few months taught you about yourself?
How have education, culture or other people’s expectations shaped your choices?
What are you learning or exploring simply because it interests you?
If these topics resonate with you, you’re very welcome to join our conversation. We’d love to hear your experiences and get to know you.
