How to Land and Survive a UX Startup Job

Add to your calendar:

Three experienced UX designers explain how to find a startup job, how to get hired, and how to thrive. This will be a 30 minute presentation, with a 15 minute Q&A session. Our designers come from Pie Insurance, a hypergrowth insurtech.

Our Presenters

Kevin is Head of UX at one of the fastest growing insurtechs in the world, Pie Insurance. He has shaped designs for GEICO, IBM, Quicken Loans FoC, and Office Depot. Kevin's research has been cited in 50+ countries. He regularly shares UX thought leadership through organizations such as Forbes, Carnegie Mellon, and UXPA.

Gypsy is a Senior UX designer at Pie Insurance focusing on the user experience of acquisition of new customers across different channels. She has had over a decade of experience working on improving process flows, system UIs/flows, in different mediums including chatbots, augmented reality, responsive web as well as Android and iOS native apps.

Mariah (she/they) is a Senior UX Designer at Pie Insurance who aims to empower customers by building experiences that make self-servicing policy needs as easy as pie. Before working at this rapidly growing Insurtech start-up, Mariah worked on immersion and gamification at an escape room start-up in San Francisco and built leadership development simulations for FinTech and consulting firms.

Questions? We've Got Answers

What is an IxDF Local Group and why should I join one?

An IxDF Local Group is a meeting point for people with a passion for design in your city.

You don't need to be a designer, just passionate about great design and how it can improve your work and career.

Meetups are the heartbeat of IxDF Local Groups, whether we meet at a café, a creative space or a local company. There's nothing quite like the magic of meeting face-to-face to share ideas and inspiration.

We also host regular IxDF Design Dinners, where we enjoy great food and help each other learn and grow. Even a simple coffee meetup in a café can ignite collaborations and friendships that last a lifetime.

You'll also have a private and exclusive online forum where you can openly get help and career advice.

Simply put, we learn together and smile together.

You'll expand your career network, discover new skills, explore job opportunities, meet potential clients, or even find your next dedicated team member when you join an xDF Local Group.

Remember: Your network is your net worth.

What goes on in an IxDF Local Group?

Your IxDF Local Group is led by an IxDF Local Leader and serves as a vibrant hub where you can network, learn and grow.

Here's what you can expect:
