Mzwandile "Zwai" Makgoba: Pioneering UX Practice Engineering and Nurturing Design Talent
With over two decades of industry experience, Mzwandile "Zwai" Makgoba has established himself as a distinguished figure in the realm of UX practice engineering. As the Design Practice Lead at DVT, he oversees a team of 55+ designers, researchers, and writers, ensuring their technical proficiency. Zwai also spearheads the Design Graduate Program and UX Academy, focusing on UX & UI Introduction Fundamentals, demonstrating his commitment to nurturing the next generation of design talent.
Zwai's foundation in design is built upon a Graphic Design background, complemented by a couple of certifications. He began his career in marketing and advertising, where he excelled as a Creative Director, leading teams that blended designers, developers, and copywriters to create groundbreaking digital marketing campaigns. His unique and smooth style has garnered admiration and numerous accolades, with over 22 awards to his name.
As a pioneer in bridging the gap between print and digital media, Zwai has consistently pushed the boundaries of design and creativity, driving forward the evolution of the user experience. His leadership and innovative approach have left an indelible mark on the industry, and he continues to influence and inspire the UX community through his writing and talks.
Despite his success, Zwai remains a township advocate at heart, using his UX/UI expertise to bridge the gap between his roots and his current position. His role at DVT allows him to nurture the next generation of designers, instilling in them the principles and skills that have defined his illustrious career.
