Karen Holtzblatt is CEO and co-founder of InContext Design and a research scientist at the University of Maryland iSchool. She developed Contextual Inquiry and Contextual Design, a field-research-based approach to understanding users, and co-authored Contextual Design and Rapid Contextual Design. She founded the Women in Tech Retention Project (WITops) and co-wrote Retaining Women in Tech: Shifting the Paradigm. She is a member of the CHI Academy and received the SIGCHI Lifetime Practice Award in 2010.
