About this role
[REDACTED] is looking for an experienced WordPress developer with strong UX design skills to build and maintain high-converting websites and landing pages for our local insurance agency. This is a contract position with real potential to turn into a permanent hire for the right person. If you're a seasoned developer who can take a project from Figma wireframe to a polished, live WordPress site, and you take pride in fast, clean, conversion-focused work, this role is for you!
About the Role:
You'll design and develop WordPress sites and landing pages that support our lead generation and local marketing efforts. That includes UX design work in Figma, custom theme and page development, performance optimization, and ongoing site maintenance. You'll work directly with the agency owner and our paid media team, and you'll have full autonomy over your day-to-day workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design user experiences and page layouts in Figma (or similar tools) before development.
- Build, customize, and maintain WordPress sites, themes, and landing pages.
- Develop conversion-focused landing pages for our PPC campaigns (Google Ads, Meta).
- Optimize site speed, mobile responsiveness, and Core Web Vitals.
- Set up tracking and analytics (GA4, GTM) with our media team
- Make sure all work meets brand and compliance guidelines.
- Troubleshoot bugs, manage plugins and updates, and keep sites secure.
- Communicate progress clearly and hit agreed-upon deadlines.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on WordPress development experience (Required).
- Strong UX/UI design skills and proficiency in Figma or comparable design tools (Required).
- Solid front-end skills: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP.
- Experience with custom theme development.
- A portfolio that shows both design and development work.
- Experience building landing pages for lead generation or paid media campaigns preferred
- Familiarity with SEO fundamentals and site performance optimization.
- Ability to work independently, manage your own schedule, and proactively solve problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Job Details:
- Job Type: Contract (1099)
- Duration: Temporary (3-6 months), with potential to convert to a permanent position based on performance and fit
Location:
Remote (Ohio or New York preferred)
Compensation:
$75-$100 per hour, negotiable based on experience; open to a monthly retainer arrangement
