UX/UI Designer - Remote

[REDACTED] is currently seeking a UX/UI Designer - Remote position with a Large Energy Company located in Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity.

Compensation: $72.50 - $82.50 per hour, W2, based on qualifications

Position Overview:

This role focuses on executing UX and product design to enhance user experience by combining interfaces and workflows. The ideal candidate will be involved in the full design lifecycle, from brainstorming to execution, producing wireframes, user flows, and dev-ready specs in [REDACTED]. This is a self-directed role requiring collaboration with designers, researchers, and content partners across multiple concurrent product teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop storyboards, user flows, prototypes, and wireframes to specify proposed experiences
• Create and optimize new and existing user interface and visual designs
• Maintain and evolve all design guidelines for our design properties
• Present proposed experiences to a range of partners including product managers, business analysts, and development teams
• Quickly acquire a detailed understanding of project scope, business requirements, and technology constraints
• Plan, conduct, and report on usability tests and other user research activities
• Conduct competitive analysis and heuristic evaluations
• Design across multiple concurrent product teams, producing mid- and hi-fidelity wireframes and user flows in [REDACTED]
• Attend daily stand-ups and iterate on designs based on feedback

Primary Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience designing digital products in a product or agency setting
• Proven experience in UX and product design, including creating wireframes, storyboards, and high-fidelity designs
• Advanced proficiency with [REDACTED] (components, variants, auto-layout, dev-ready specs)
• Experience with end-to-end UX/UI design for web and mobile (flows, wireframes, hi-fi UI)
• Experience working within an established design system and with agile product teams
• Knowledge of accessibility fundamentals / WCAG awareness
• Ability to grasp user needs and solve complex problems
• Must be able to operate as a self-directed individual contributor within a collaborative team
• Ability to manage context-switching between multiple concurrent workstreams
• Clear async written communication skills and comfort giving and receiving critique
• Portfolio demonstrating both UX thinking and UI craft

Desired Skills:

• Prior utility, energy, or regulated-industry experience
• Experience contributing components back to a shared design system
• Familiarity with usability testing and partnering with dedicated researchers
• Experience designing for both responsive web and native mobile
