UX/UI Designer & Front-End Developer

About the role

This is a fixed term position starting end Oct (ideally) until end of Feb '27.

You'll lead user experience and front-end design across our website, online client services and internal systems. Working closely with our development and service teams, you'll take work from concept through to launch. Your work will span three connected areas: our public website (design and deliver a fast, accessible, mobile-friendly site with clear journeys for employers, candidates and immigration clients), our subscription portal (create an experience that provides self-serve capabilities to employer and candidate clients), and our internal CRM (help staff work effectively with the new system through intuitive screens, forms, dashboards and navigation).

Key responsibilities

• Understand user needs and translate them into clear, simple journeys
• Create wireframes, prototypes and polished visual designs
• Build responsive, accessible front-ends using React
• Develop and maintain a consistent design system
• Collaborate with developers to connect designs to the underlying systems
• Test with real users and refine based on what you learn
• Document your work and support a smooth handover

About you

• A portfolio showing websites or web applications you've taken from concept to launch, with strong visual design and evidence of usability
• Solid UX skills: research, wireframing, prototyping and usability testing
• Hands-on front-end development in React, and experience working with APIs
• Experience creating design systems or component libraries
• Practical knowledge of accessibility, performance and SEO
• Clear, plain-English writing for interfaces
• A talent for making complicated things feel easy
• Good communication and confidence working in a small team
• Experience with recruitment platforms, membership sites, WordPress job themes and/or regulated professional services would be useful
