UX Researcher

Role Overview

We’re looking for an experienced User Researcher / Research Lead to join a large-scale digital transformation programme on an initial 6-month contract with the likelihood to extend. This is a hands-on research role supporting major strategic initiatives across customer-facing digital products and services.

You’ll suit this role if you enjoy getting close to users, turning research into actionable insight, and working directly with product and delivery teams to test assumptions and shape better experiences. The role combines hands-on qualitative research with research strategy, giving you the opportunity to influence how research is embedded across large, complex programmes.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead and deliver qualitative user research across complex, multi-year digital initiatives
• Plan and execute research from discovery and hypothesis development through to synthesis and insight
• Identify opportunities to embed research into project and product workflows
• Test assumptions, validate hypotheses, and create continuous learning throughout delivery
• Work closely with product squads, digital designers, and front-end developers
• Bring stakeholders into research activities including observation, note-taking, and synthesis
• Translate research findings into clear, actionable insights that influence product and customer experience decisions
• Operate across multiple initiatives, navigating ambiguity and changing priorities
• Contribute to research strategy and help evolve research practices across the wider design and product environment

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience as a User Researcher, UX Researcher, Design Researcher, or similar
• Strong hands-on experience with qualitative research methodologies
• Experience taking research from planning and fieldwork through to synthesis and actionable recommendations
• A strong research strategy mindset with the ability to operate as a hands-on practitioner
• Experience working within large-scale digital products, transformation programmes, agile environments, startups, or agencies
• Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and identifying where research can add value
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to collaborate closely with designers, developers, product teams, and wider stakeholders
• Portfolio or case studies demonstrating your research approach, thinking, and impact
