📋 Description

• Own UX and UI designs from concept through handoff
• Create wireframes, user flows, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes
• Build and maintain components within an evolving design system
• Translate complex case management, eligibility, and intake workflows into clear, accessible interfaces
• Collaborate directly with engineers to ensure accurate implementation
• Adjust designs thoughtfully when technical constraints require changes
• Support accessibility reviews and contribute to WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance
• Participate in sprint ceremonies, design reviews, and stakeholder demos
• Work autonomously within a lean design team and take on adjacent tasks as needed
• Support the Family Portal and Case Management System for families applying for child care financial assistance across Massachusetts

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of UX and UI design experience
• Portfolio demonstrating strong visual design sensibility and systems thinking
• Meaningful experience launching and maintaining digital products with a team
• Experience working with front-end developers and understanding technically feasible implementations
• Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards
• Proficiency in [REDACTED], including components, auto-layout, and prototyping
• Comfort working in agile environments with iterative feedback cycles
• Strong communication skills and ability to present design rationale to non-designers
• Experience designing for public services or benefits
• Background check (CORI) and credentialing review required prior to system access
• Authorization to work in the United States for any employer
• Work must take place in the contiguous United States
• Recent US residency: lived in the United States for at least 3 of the past 5 years
• Willingness to complete a background check if selected
• Required portfolio submission
