π Description
- Own the development and ongoing improvement of the gameβs UI systems and player-facing experiences
- Design and implement robust, responsive UI features with Gameplay, Systems, Design, Art, and QA teams
- Write clear, maintainable, performant, and well-documented code
- Build UI for large-scale multiplayer gameplay, including dynamic gameplay states, player information, team communication, objectives, equipment, and real-time systems
- Debug, profile, and optimize UI features across target platforms
- Translate UI/UX designs and visual concepts into polished, functional game features
- Establish and maintain UI programming standards, patterns, and best practices
- Create and maintain technical documentation and communicate UI system capabilities, limitations, and constraints
- Collaborate with the programming team to identify technical challenges and develop maintainable solutions
- Improve UI tools, workflows, and development practices
- Identify opportunities to improve UI usability, performance, reliability, and maintainability
π― Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience programming video games
- 1+ years of professional experience developing game UI, ideally on a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team
- At least 1 shipped game in a UI Programmer capacity
- Solid understanding of game UI/UX principles and a genuine interest in creating intuitive player experiences
- Experience taking UI features from concept through implementation, iteration, debugging, and polish
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with an ability to investigate complex technical issues independently
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with programmers, designers, artists, and QA
- A high degree of self-motivation, ownership, and initiative
- Comfortable researching unfamiliar technologies and systems
- Strong proficiency in C++
- Proficient with Unreal Engine 5
- Proficient with Common UI, Lyra, Enhanced Input
- Experience working on live service games post launch
