Overview:

The Senior Art Director leads global retail and packaging creative, combining consistent delivery with forward-thinking development of new consumer-facing concepts. A hands-on designer and team leader, the role shapes how [REDACTED] franchises appear in retail environments, packaging, campaigns, and selected experiences. Working with the VP and business partners, this leader develops compelling concepts for stores, destinations, and associated digital touchpoints, then guides their execution. The role leads designers and external specialists, advancing creative ambition while respecting franchise direction, commercial needs, and production realities.

This is an onsite position at our Los Angeles office.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Lead day-to-day retail and packaging design; manage and develop designers, establish creative priorities with the VP, and align resources and delivery with Creative Operations.
  • Proactively develop and pitch concepts for retail destinations, shop-in-shops, pop-ups, and experiential opportunities. Maintain an agreed pipeline of concepts alongside ongoing delivery.
  • Remain hands-on in campaign identities, logos, packaging systems, displays, environmental graphics, and digital concepts. Guide work from exploration through production-ready design.
  • Partner with Experiences, Retail, Marketing, and regional teams early in development, adapting concepts for local audiences and execution by specialist partners.
  • Collaborate with Licensing Design and Character Art on franchise coherence and with the Creative Studio on selected motion, video, and social assets; lead franchise branding projects as assigned by the VP.
  • Direct agencies and production partners, reviewing feasibility, materials, and execution quality within agreed budgets and timelines.
  • Provide selective creative consultation for owned e-commerce, such as [REDACTED], through Product Design. Routine product oversight and partner management remain with Product Design, and site asset execution remains partner-led.

Primary Deliverables

  • Retail campaign identities, design toolkits, and packaging systems.
  • Concept presentations for destinations, pop-ups, and experiential opportunities.
  • Environmental graphics, displays, digital creative concepts, and production-ready assets.
  • Creative briefs for motion and video partnerships and market adaptations.

Measures of Success

  • Retail and packaging work strengthens franchise expression and meets partner, production, and delivery requirements.
  • Forward-thinking concepts create actionable opportunities for consumer engagement across physical and digital environments.
  • Designers and external partners deliver cohesive work with clear priorities, stronger craft, and effective cross-team collaboration.

Basic Qualifications

  • 12 years of experience.

Additional Qualifications

  • Extensive retail, packaging, or brand design experience, with demonstrated people leadership and a record of developing concepts beyond routine production.
  • Exemplary portfolio spanning retail campaigns, packaging, identity systems, and physical or digital consumer experiences. Entertainment or licensing experience preferred.
  • Expert Adobe Creative Suite skills, current hands-on design practice, and solid typography, composition, and packaging production knowledge.
  • Proven ability to pitch concepts, develop designers, direct specialist partners, and balance ongoing delivery with future-facing initiatives across markets.
  • Fluency in briefing motion and digital creative; applicable use of company-approved AI-assisted exploration and visualization with sound rights and quality judgment. Reference: ECNJOBID-98-109-86-162 in the application
