Product Designer, IG Projects – Instagram

We're looking for a senior Product Designer to lead design efforts across [REDACTED] that enable AI-native product development end-to-end. This is the tool we expect to be the go-to hub for all product teams moving forward.

As we’re evolving the ways we build across the org, we’re investing in centralized AI tooling across all functions, from idea to production. This is a foundational role at the intersection of AI, design tools, and organizational transformation. You'll shape how [REDACTED]'s product teams work faster, more creatively, with less friction. You won't just be designing features; you'll be setting a vision for the future of how we work as an organization. The surface area spans prototyping agents, design review automation, org memory systems, and the core collaborative experience that ties it all together.

You'll lead design vision and execution across multiple workstreams, partnering closely with engineering and leadership. The ideal candidate thrives in deep ambiguity, has a strong point of view on AI-native workflows, and can hold both systems-level thinking and pixel-level craft simultaneously. You're genuinely energized by figuring out not only what we build, but how.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the end-to-end vision to scale from alpha to org-wide tooling that all teams use daily. You'll own the north star for how prototyping, review, memory, and collaboration come together as one coherent system

• Shape the org memory and context system, designing the single place where canonical docs, decisions, and rationale live and are instantly accessible to both humans and agents. You'll define information architecture that scales across hundreds of projects and multiple organizational levels
• Champion craft and coherence across all surfaces, ensuring the tool is polished, intuitive, and distinct, even as it evolves rapidly. You'll set the quality bar for AI-generated outputs, collaborative workflows, and the moments where human judgment and machine capability meet. You will be responsible for setting the vision and holding the pen on elevating the tools to become a truly premium experience and codify the design system and patterns to scale
• Set the design vision. Define and drive the design direction for a new product or platform — taking it zero-to-one or leading a fundamental reinvention at significant scale and complexity, shaping the vision and rallying the org around it
• Set the agenda across complex systems. Identify what matters most and create clarity where none exists — aligning leadership and cross-functional partners on direction across AI capabilities, platform infrastructure, design systems, and organizational workflows
• Apply AI-native product and systems thinking. Design information architecture, interaction models, and agent behaviors that scale coherently across workflows (prototyping, review, memory, automation) — treating AI as a fundamental shift in how products get built, not a feature layer
• Raise the bar on craft and platform quality. Deliver work with the taste and polish to make experiences memorable, designing products opinionated enough to be useful yet flexible enough to configure across contexts, orgs, and user types
• Articulate a compelling design vision to senior leadership (Director, VP+) — framing options vs. recommendations, building alignment without over-processing, and representing design in the rooms where organizational decisions get made
• Act as a multiplier for the people around you — mentoring and developing designers, raising the bar on AI-native design practice, and connecting partners across functions to foster alignment and cohesion

Qualifications

12+ years of product design experience, with demonstrated impact on platforms, tools, or developer/maker experiences at scale

• A portfolio that shows end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-surface product systems—ideally including new product creation (0→1) or significant platform/tools work
• Deep experience with AI-powered products, design tools, developer tools, or productivity platforms is strongly valued
• Demonstrated ability to lead design in spaces of high organizational complexity—where the product is the process, and the users are internal builders with sophisticated needs
• Experience designing for AI agents, conversational interfaces, or agentic workflows is a strong plus
• Comfort with ambiguity: you've shipped in fast-moving spaces where the strategy and capabilities were evolving simultaneously
