About this role

Hi! We are [REDACTED] and we are looking for a Product Designer to join our Education team in Berlin. In this individual contributor role, you will help shape learning experiences that support medical students and professionals as they prepare for career-defining exams and continue learning throughout their careers.

About [REDACTED]

[REDACTED] is a dynamic learning and clinical decision support tool committed to empowering medical professionals globally to deliver optimal care. Since our inception in 2012, we've harnessed cutting-edge technology to transform the way physicians acquire and apply scientific knowledge. Each [REDACTED]ian is passionate about being the champion of clinicians today - this motivates and unites us each day towards success. And what does success look like? When a clinician or med student tells us, “[REDACTED] makes practicing medicine easier and enjoyable. I love what I do, and a big part is because of [REDACTED].”

Why can this role be exciting for you?

You will shape the end-to-end exam preparation experience, with a focus on our Qbank product. Your work will help medical learners globally, to practice more effectively, close knowledge gaps, simulate real exam conditions, and benefit from personalized, AI-powered learning experiences, directly supporting [REDACTED]'s mission to empower healthcare professionals.

Working in a cross-functional team with Product, Engineering, Medical, User Research, and Design, you'll turn user needs into intuitive, practical solutions, validate them with users and data, and bring them to life.

This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys simplifying complex workflows, is passionate about educational and medical UX, and is excited to explore how AI can enhance both learning and the design process. You will report to the Director of UX Design.

You will:

  • Design and improve the end-to-end exam preparation experience for medical students and professionals in Germany, the United States, and international and adjacent healthcare markets across desktop and mobile.
  • Work as part of the Qbank Experience Team, collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, Medical, Research, and Design to understand user needs and turn them into thoughtful product experiences.
  • Take ownership of assigned design problems and projects, from understanding the problem and exploring concepts through prototyping, validation, detailed design, and implementation.
  • Design and prototype learning experiences that help users practice effectively, reinforce knowledge, and prepare confidently for professional exams.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative insights to inform your design decisions, working with our in-house User Research and Data teams to understand user behavior, validate solutions, and iterate on your designs.
  • Collaborate with medical experts and editors to understand the needs of our highly knowledgeable users and translate complex medical and educational requirements into simple, intuitive experiences.
  • Work closely with engineers throughout the design and implementation process to ensure that shipped experiences reflect the design intent while taking technical opportunities and constraints into account.
  • Collaborate with other product teams to help create a cohesive and personalized user experience across relevant parts of [REDACTED], such as sign-up, dashboard, shop, and user profile.
  • Apply and advocate for strong design principles, usability, and accessibility, contributing to high-quality and consistent experiences across [REDACTED].
  • Contribute to the wider [REDACTED] Design community through design critiques, knowledge sharing, and contributions to our design system, interaction patterns, and other shared design topics.
  • Build a deep understanding of our users and advocate for their needs throughout the product development process.

You bring:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in UX or product design, with strong skills in information architecture and communicating complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong user-centered design skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of UX and visual design fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in [REDACTED] and modern prototyping tools, with an interest in using AI tools to support and improve the design process.
  • Ability to work through design challenges and translate complexity into simple, intuitive, scalable and user-friendly experiences.
  • A passion for creating great user experiences and for validating and iterating on designs to ensure they address user needs.
  • Ability to translate product goals and user needs into thoughtful design solutions, from early concepts through to implementation details.
  • A collaborative and iterative approach to design, with openness to feedback and working closely with others.
  • A growth mindset and interest in developing a deep understanding of educational UX for a product designed for medical experts rather than a general audience.
  • Experience using research insights and data to inform design decisions and participating in user research studies.
  • Experience working effectively in cross-functional teams, including product, design, engineering, and research, and collaborating with a range of stakeholders.

You enjoy:

  • Digging into complex UX problems and experimenting to find simple, effective solutions for users.
  • Working collaboratively with Product, Engineering, Medical, Research, plus commercial teams, rather than designing in isolation.
  • Using research, data, and feedback to challenge assumptions and improve your designs.
  • Moving from early concepts to detailed interaction and UI design.
  • Learning about complex domains and developing empathy for highly knowledgeable, specialist users.
  • Design systems and contributing to it
  • Giving and receiving constructive design feedback and learning from other designers.
  • Exploring new tools and ways of working, including AI, and thoughtfully applying them to your design process.
