Head of Product Design
About this role
About [REDACTED]
[REDACTED] is a leading cloud-based Identity Governance and Administration platform. We help enterprises ensure that the right people, applications, and AI agents have the right access to the right resources, at the right time. We work with security-conscious enterprises across regulated industries, and industry analysts recognize us as a leader in the IGA space. In September 2026 we acquired [REDACTED], a pioneer in AI agent governance, to bring real-time control of AI agents into our platform.
About the team and the mission
You will lead Product Design at a moment when the way people use [REDACTED] is changing. Our platform is increasingly used not only by the people who administer and govern identity, but also by technical partners and customer implementers building on it, and by AI agents acting on a customer's behalf. Good product design now has to serve all three.
This reflects a wider shift across the industry. Platforms are moving from interfaces hand-built screen by screen toward capabilities exposed through APIs and tools, with interfaces increasingly composed from those capabilities. In that model, a well-architected API can still fall short if no one has designed how it is discovered, described, and used, by identity practitioners and by agents alike. We want Design to lead on this, and to explore what a more composable approach to our own interface could look like.
Leading on that rests on foundations that are real at [REDACTED] but need to be brought to a consistent standard. The first is a formalized understanding of our users: documented user journeys and jobs-to-be-done for our core personas, including technical implementers and agents, so every team works from one model of who we serve and what they are trying to accomplish. That model anchors the rest: usage analytics that are consistent and a regular input to decisions, and a design system that teams follow, not just one that exists.
We are moving to an agentic SDLC, where AI-assisted work is the default across the team, including product design. This is a foundational opportunity: you will join early enough to shape the practice, the standards, and the way Design works with Product Management and Engineering.
About the role
As Head of Product Design, you own the product experience, from research and user journeys to the design system and the way our platform is experienced by developers and agents. You report to [REDACTED]'s Chief Product Officer, lead our design team (today a Lead Product Designer, with the team expected to grow), and partner with Product Management, Product Marketing, and Engineering as peers.
This is not a craft-only role. You define what good experience looks like, track whether we are achieving it, and bring a design point of view to strategy and the roadmap. This position is open to candidates based in Europe.
What you'll do
- Define [REDACTED]'s approach to experience for people, partner and customer implementers, and AI agents, including how our APIs and tools are described and structured so they can be reliably discovered and used.
- Partner with Engineering on API and schema design from an experience and consumability lens, and explore how our interface can increasingly be composed from exposed capability.
- Partner closely with our Technical Writing team so documentation, API references, and tool and schema descriptions are designed as part of the experience for developers and agents, not added afterward.
- Bring a design point of view to product strategy and roadmap, working closely with Product Management and Product Marketing.
- Formalize [REDACTED]'s user journeys and jobs-to-be-done around our core personas, including technical implementers and, increasingly, AI agents, so teams share one referenceable model of who we serve and what they are trying to accomplish.
- Bring consistency to usage analytics across cloud and on-prem deployments, and pair it with qualitative research so adoption, friction, and sentiment inform design and roadmap decisions.
- Mature our design system: consolidate component variants, document standards, and establish with Engineering how the system is adopted and followed.
- Establish a way to track and prioritize design debt, so improvement work has a visible, defensible place in planning.
- Lead and develop the design team, setting the quality bar and the practices, including how AI-assisted design is used well.
What you bring
- 8+ years designing B2B, enterprise, or developer-platform software, including 3+ years leading design teams or practices, with ownership of user research, journey mapping, and design system work
- Hands-on experience with developer experience (DX) or API-as-product design: designing for developers, integrators, or other technical users, including documentation, SDKs, or API surfaces.
- Working knowledge of quantitative UX and product analytics (adoption, usability metrics, sentiment) alongside qualitative research methods.
- Strong technical literacy. You can read API documentation and schemas, understand integration patterns, and hold a credible conversation with senior engineers about trade-offs, even if you don't write production code.
- Curiosity about AI agents and emerging patterns such as agent experience and composable interfaces, and the willingness to go first. Direct experience is not required, because the field is new.
- Hands-on use of AI in your own design work, with you reviewing and owning the output.
- The ability to influence product direction as a design leader, and to build practice and standards in an environment where they are still maturing.
- Comfort managing several priorities at once and making decisions with incomplete information.
- Excellent written and spoken English, and the right to work in your country of residence in Europe.
Bonus
- Identity and access management, identity governance, or broader security domain knowledge.
- Familiarity with MCP, generative UI, or agent tooling ecosystems.
- Experience building or scaling a design system and the governance around it.
What we offer
- Ownership of the design function at an inflection point, with high autonomy, high visibility, and a real seat at the strategy table.
- Direct exposure to customers, partners, and [REDACTED]'s product leadership.
- A team built for cloud-native, AI-assisted development, where you are a peer of senior product and engineering leaders.
- Competitive compensation and benefits, with details shared by our Talent Acquisition team during the process.
[REDACTED] is an equal opportunity employer and qualified applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, national origin, age, veteran status, disability or any other protected class.
At [REDACTED], we are experts in cybersecurity, taking our customers by the hand, helping them to take identity and access management to the next level. We offer you the opportunity to work with passionate, competent people, experts within their field, in an informal and agile organization with a flat structure.
