Stakeholder maps are visual representations where you can place people or groups of
people according to their interest in your project and how much power they have over it.
It actually helps you identify who the key stakeholders are, and who maybe just needs
to be kept in the loop, but you don't need to invest too much time in them.
In a sense, the stakeholder map allows you to adapt your efforts
depending on where people are on the map and pick your battles.

So, a good habit to have before any presentation is to locate your
audience on a stakeholder map. These maps allow you to visually place people on two axes.
One is the level of influence over your project, and the other is the level of interest in it.
This helps prioritize stakeholder communication and engagement efforts. For example, if they have
high power but aren't primarily interested in the topic, force yourself to be short and concise;

don't go over time. If they are highly interested but don't hold much power, maybe a written email
to a distribution list is enough. And if they have high power and high interest, then it is
time to really invest in tailoring your content to them by, for example, using examples that they
can relate to or talking about their context. As the presenter, I am the one who needs to adapt.
