This is an example I used to do, you know
UI very early on in my career as I'm doing as a graphic designer now.
I am more of UX person, but I started out on the visual design
side and just for my own portfolio, I created this piece of art called Pingolo.
It was very simple concept.
I wanted to create a Pingolo, you know, a penguin who would have a back story.
And this penguin lived on a,

you know, a glacier or sort of an island of his own.
So I thought, yeah, this is something I've built in the past.
Why don't I create a game out of it or a game idea out of it?
So I wanted to create a prototype
that, you know, would be high fidelity enough to test with any user.
To test with a player and get their feedback on.
So again, I'm not necessarily showing you all the steps
here, but the usual journey would be if you are kind of building it,
you write a brief, you have a technical spec
where you're thinking about different tasks,

like what will the initial screen look like? How will we go about tutorial?
What would a game map look like? And so on.
So pretty much we've gone through those pieces.
As I showed you before, you will build low fidelity prototypes.
Here's an example. You know what I'm trying to flesh out
What would the tutorial for this game look like?
And you can see that I'm building wireframes very low fidelity.
And then once I was happy with them, I build these high fidelity
UI screen mockups and then I went about prototyping.
So I am using a tool called Principle.

All right.
It's a design tool which you design again work on.
You might have heard about it and you can see that
whatever you ask me and I've worked on based on my wireframes,
I've set them up here and created connections among them.
And then by animating them and putting them together in a design,
I'm able to, you know, create a prototype.
So here's an example.
This is a Pingolo prototype. There is no sound, and that’a I'll explain it to you.
so yeah, here we are in Pingolo’s world and he's introducing himself, right?

I am Pingolo,
and I love to fish.
So the character is introducing themselves and it's saying the lake is freezing.
Help me out some fish.
So basically you can see how the character is, you know, on boarding the player.
But they're also trying to tell them something about their world.
The lake is freezing.
Pingolo can catch fish, you know,
and he needs to be, you know, healthy and alive.
Can you help him?
So he's creating an emergency situation where he's asking players for their help.
And it's, again, teaching them how to, you know, play the game.

So swipe to match up. Okay.
So it's like similar to Candy Crash game, so you have to match
similar looking fish.
So it gave me a quick tutorial and then it got me on this thing that I can see.
This is what maybe, probably this is a part that I have to date.
You know there are different levels.
For example, if I click on this lock
icon, it says level locked, complete previous level.
You know, the two stars will actually unlock this.
Okay, So I'm going to go with this flow and I see this pop up, come up.
It says, okay, you might get three stars and maybe I'm required to

like these different kind of fish, three of these kinds of these games.
So let's play.
And as you can see, I'm now in a game level.
It looks nice and animated and from tutorial I recall that I
had similar looking fish, so when I try to match
fish, which are not similar, you can see that they are not exchanging place.
But yeah, when I clicked on the fish which matched
that sequence, it kind of happened, which is great.
Okay, yeah, I got it.

Great.
And now I see there are some, you know, different looking fish.
So see what's happening.
If I click on them, they are actually not.
They're giving me a very different kind of feedback.
So you can see that how
I'm still in the core loop.
But it's not just about performing the same set of actions.
The game will keep throwing you challenges as you're learning the game
so that you know you feel that it's not boring, it's not too easy for you.
It's giving you some sense of, you know, a challenge to get over.
So Pingolo is guiding me, okay, these are frozen fish, okay?

It's telling me I don't know that.
And it's very hard to match and zap them to match it.
And then it's saying, okay, go ahead. So I'm going to do that.
And then I see this
message come up, Booster Unlocked.
Okay, So this is what it meant by there's a booster that I have to use
and I ended the tutorial, so I'm going to click on it
and the moment I click on it, it melts the ice.
And as you can see now, I'm going to match all the fish
so level over a lot of celebration.

engagement aspect of the experience modeling I spoke about.
See how rewarding it feels for the player.
You know, there's confetti happening, falling all around the celebrations.
I'm getting these rewards.
I can click them to learn more about them.
Okay, I've got two of these boosters
which I use, which is which I really like using.
It's giving me coins. What do these coins do?
I can use them to buy new boosters and so on.
And now, because at played that level, it's taking me to the next level.
So you can see like how my once I've finished one
set of core loop action that is playing the game, I've played it successfully.
